Privacy policy
Last updated: October 5, 2026
This policy explains what happens to your files and data when you use FileKiwi (filekiwi.com). FileKiwi is operated by BDK Media, Warsaw, Poland (the data controller). Contact: contact@filekiwi.com.
1. Your files
Tools that run in your browser. Most FileKiwi tools (for example image conversion, image to PDF, PDF to image, merge, split, rotate and delete PDF pages, image compression for JPG and WebP, resize, crop, background removal and face blur) process files locally on your device. These files are never sent to us.
Tools that use our server. PDF compression, Word to PDF, TXT to PDF, PNG compression, and conversion to TIFF or ICO send the file to our server over an encrypted HTTPS connection. The file is stored in a private temporary folder that is not accessible from the internet, processed immediately, and deleted as soon as the result has been sent back to you. Any leftover temporary file is removed automatically within one hour. We do not open, read, analyse, share or keep your files, and we do not use them to train any model.
Each tool page says which way it works, right under the upload button.
2. Data we process when you visit
- Server logs: our hosting provider records standard technical data (IP address, browser type, time and requested address) for security and to keep the service running. Logs are kept for a limited time.
- Abuse protection: for server tools we keep a short lived counter linked to a hashed IP address to prevent abuse. It expires after ten minutes.
- Cookies: FileKiwi does not set advertising or analytics cookies at the moment. See our cookie policy.
3. Legal basis
We process the data above to provide the service you ask for (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) and for our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
4. Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area you can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, restrict or object to processing, and lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Poland: the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, UODO). Write to contact@filekiwi.com.
5. Processors
Our website is hosted by Hostinger, which acts as our data processor. We do not sell personal data.
6. Children
FileKiwi is a general audience tool and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
7. Changes
If we add analytics, advertising or any new processing, we will update this page and, where required, ask for your consent first.
