Copyright and content notices

Last updated: October 5, 2026

We respect the rights of creators and rights holders and expect our users to do the same. This policy explains how to tell us about content that you believe infringes your rights or is otherwise illegal, and how we handle such notices. It is part of our Terms of Use and implements the notice and action mechanism of Article 16 of the EU Digital Services Act. It also follows the notice and counter notice process known from the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512).

1. How FileKiwi works with user files

FileKiwi does not host, publish or share user files. Most tools run in the user's browser and files never reach us. Files sent to our server tools are processed automatically and deleted immediately after the result is returned to the user who sent them. We do not create public links or galleries of user files, so there are no user files stored on filekiwi.com that could be viewed or downloaded by others.

Notices are therefore most useful for content that we publish ourselves (for example text, images or guides on our pages) or for misuse of our service.

2. How to send a notice

Send your notice by email to contact@filekiwi.com with the subject "Copyright notice" or "Illegal content notice". To allow us to act quickly, please include:

  1. your name and email address, and if you act for someone else, the name of the rights holder or person you represent;
  2. a description of the work or right you believe is infringed, or of why you believe the content is illegal, with an explanation of the reasons;
  3. the exact URL or URLs on filekiwi.com where the content is located, or other information that allows us to identify it precisely;
  4. a statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the content is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent or the law;
  5. a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and complete and, for copyright notices, under penalty of perjury, that you are the rights holder or authorised to act on their behalf;
  6. your physical or electronic signature.

If your notice concerns possible child sexual abuse material, you do not need to give your name. Please also report it directly to the police or to a hotline such as Dyżurnet.pl in Poland or the INHOPE network.

3. What happens next

  • We confirm receipt of your notice without undue delay.
  • We review it carefully, objectively and in a timely manner. A person, not an algorithm, makes the decision.
  • If the notice is valid, we remove or disable access to the content and, where possible, inform the person who provided it, with the reasons.
  • We inform you of our decision and the reasons for it, and of the options to challenge it.
  • Incomplete notices may delay our action. We may ask for more information.

4. Counter notices and appeals

If content you provided was removed and you believe this was a mistake or that you have the right to use it, you can send a counter notice to contact@filekiwi.com with the subject "Counter notice". Include your name and contact details, the content and URL concerned, an explanation of why the removal was wrong and a statement that the information is accurate. We will review the counter notice and may restore the content if the original notice was unfounded, after informing the person who sent it. Within the EU you may also use an out of court dispute settlement body certified under Article 21 of the Digital Services Act or go to court.

5. Misuse of notices

Sending notices that are clearly unfounded, or knowingly misrepresenting that content is infringing, is not allowed. It can make you liable for damages, and we may stop processing notices from people who repeatedly send them, as allowed by Article 23 of the Digital Services Act.

6. Trademarks

File format names, product names and company names that appear on FileKiwi are used only to describe compatibility, for example which formats a tool can read. FileKiwi is not affiliated with their owners. If you believe we use your trademark in a way that is misleading, contact us at the address above and we will review it promptly.

7. Our own content

The text, guides, illustrations, icons, logo, kiwi mascot and code of FileKiwi are protected by copyright and belong to BDK Media or its licensors. Copying our pages or tools without permission is not allowed. Short quotes with a link to the source are welcome.
