Editorial policy
Last updated: October 5, 2026
The short version. Every guide and tool page on FileKiwi describes only what the tools really do. We test every step on real files, cite primary sources for facts about file formats, correct mistakes quickly and never accept payment for coverage.
1. Who writes our content
Our guides and tool pages are written and reviewed by the FileKiwi editorial team, led by our editor Anna LewiĆski. The editor is responsible for the accuracy of every page that is published on filekiwi.com.
2. How we test
- Every step in a guide is checked on real files: iPhone photos in HEIC, screenshots, scanned documents, exports from office apps and images saved from the web.
- We test on Windows, macOS, iPhone and Android, in Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox.
- Tool pages describe the tool as it works today, including its limits. If a tool cannot do something (for example OCR of scanned pages), we say so.
3. Sources
Facts about file formats come from primary sources wherever possible: the published specifications (for example ISO/IEC, W3C and the Alliance for Open Media), documentation from Apple, Google and Microsoft, and the documentation of the open source projects we use. We do not invent statistics, studies or quotes.
4. Use of AI
We may use AI writing assistants to help draft or translate text. A human editor checks every published page against the facts in this policy and against the real behaviour of our tools before it goes live, and remains responsible for it.
5. Independence
- We do not accept payment, gifts or free products in exchange for coverage.
- We do not publish sponsored articles or paid links in our guides.
- When we mention other companies' products, such as operating systems or apps, it is only to help readers. We are not affiliated with them.
6. Updates and corrections
Guides are reviewed when operating systems, apps or our tools change. The date at the top of each guide shows the last update. If you find a mistake, write to contact@filekiwi.com with the subject "Correction". We review every report and correct confirmed errors as quickly as possible.
