About FileKiwi

FileKiwi is a free toolkit for the everyday file problems everyone runs into: a photo that will not open, a PDF that is too big for an online form, a document that has to be a PDF by tomorrow morning.

We built FileKiwi to be the simplest way to fix those problems. One page per job, one big button, and a result in seconds. No account, no watermark, no email address required.

Who is behind FileKiwi

FileKiwi is built and run by BDK Media, a small digital publishing company based in Warsaw, Poland. BDK Media publishes websites and online tools that people use every day, and FileKiwi is its home for file conversion and file editing tools.

Our guides are written and reviewed by our editor, Anna LewiƄski.

How our tools work

We believe the best way to protect your files is to never receive them. That is why most FileKiwi tools run entirely inside your browser using modern web technology. Your photos and documents are processed on your own device and are never uploaded.

A few jobs need more power than a browser has, for example compressing a PDF with Ghostscript or converting a Word document. For those tools the file is sent to our server over an encrypted connection, processed straight away and deleted as soon as the result is sent back to you. We do not look at your files, keep copies or use them for anything else.

Every tool page tells you which way it works, right under the upload button.

Open source we rely on

FileKiwi stands on excellent open source projects, including PDF.js, pdf-lib, libheif, ONNX Runtime, ImageMagick, Ghostscript, PhpWord and Dompdf. Thank you to everyone who maintains them.
